Clyde H. Slimp
Preaching Minister firstname.lastname@example.org
I was born in Fort Worth and grew up in Decatur, Texas. Rachel came to college from Montana, and we met in Greek class, fell in love, and married in 1990. We have four boys and an old dog named Harry. Our sons are: Seth, Andrew, Matthew, and Enoch. I have a B.A. in Bible and an M.A. in the New Testament from Freed-Hardeman University, as well as an M.A. in the Old Testament from Harding School of Theology. Rachel has a B.A. in Bible from FHU and an M.A. in Christian Ministry from Oklahoma Christian University. We've ministered in Tennessee, Arkansas, and Oklahoma.
I've taught courses for OC, and began teaching online courses for Harding University's Distance Delivery Bible program in 2011. I began serving on the President's Council of Eastern European Mission in 2009. We are very passionate about missions, and have been a part of mission efforts in Zimbabwe, Slovakia, New Zealand, Nicaragua, Guyana (4 years), and the Dominican Republic. My primary calling is preaching and teaching God’s word to promote the work of the Spirit of God to transform lives into the image of Christ and advance the kingdom. Fun stuff: I love music, playing guitar, songwriting, reading, being a Mavericks and Cowboys fan, and spending time with my family.
Youth & Family Minister email@example.com
Alan Middleton joined on at the Westhill Church of Christ as the Youth & Family Minister in May of 2014. Originally from Wichita, KS, he grew up with 7 siblings (big family) and was raised by his parents, Brian and Kathy. Alan and his siblings were home schooled and he graduated with a high school diploma at the age of 16 (super smart). Alan lived in Oklahoma (Thunder Up!) from 2006-2014 where he attended Oklahoma Christian University to receive his Bachelor’s degree and went on to receive an MA in Ministry. In Oklahoma, Alan was active and led in various youth and young adult ministries. He met Jennifer (his beautiful wife) in the summer of 2011 and they were married July of 2013.
Alan enjoys playing the piano, chess, racquetball, disc golf, ultimate, mountain biking, hiking, singing, movies, growing facial hair, video games, mud runs, and PIZZA. Alan is a pretty cool guy. (Written by Alan)
My formal education comes from Abilene Christian University where I received a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology and from Amberton University where I received a Master of Arts degree in counseling. I completed my practicum at Richland Hills Christian Counseling Center. I have worked with the Grief Recovering ministry of Central Church of Christ of Cleburne, Texas since 2001. My informal education comes from life experiences including: divorce, bereavement, career changes, corporate America, small business ownership, anxiety, depression, sin and forgiveness. I consider my greatest educational experience is being part of a blessed, blended family. Through this experience, I've learned about parenting, patience, teenagers, grace, and now the "empty nest." God has been good to me and my family. It is my goal to help direct you toward the good that God can do in you.
Media Minister firstname.lastname@example.org
There's a scene in an Indiana Jones movie that I've always enjoyed; Indiana's friends ask him what he is going to do. Indie's reply is, “How should I know, I'm making it up as I go”. Though I don't live my life by that thought, so many times I feel like that's how my life ends up.
Several years ago I got laid off from my manufacturing job and in an economic downturn I found it increasingly hard to find a new one. With no job, an overwhelming amount of bills, and a family to support I did what I should of done the day I became a Christian. I gave GOD the reigns and gave up control of my life. I have always been blessed. I grew up with an amazing family. My parents have been in ministry for almost forty years, and they were the kind of parents that my friends loved being around, because if you came into our house you were loved and treated like family. I married an amazing woman and have been married almost fifteen years. Christy gave me three amazing babies, and every one of them is as smart as they are beautiful. I have a wonderful church family and all of the material blessings that a person could ever need. GOD gave me the ability to fix things, but I was in a situation that no matter how hard I tried I could not succeed on my own. With GOD in control, doors began to open. My wife was given a job at Home Depot and the people at Westhill gave me odd jobs doing what I do best, fixing things. A year later I was asked to become the Media Minister here at Westhill. I didn’t know much about it, but I tried my best and they asked me to stay. GOD gave me the common sense to deal with what ever comes my way and continually opens doors, so maybe I am “making it up as I go”. But the Lord is in control and as long as I can stay out of his way, everything will work out to his amazing and perfect plan. GOD BLESS
